Find info and services (Programs and Services Directory)
CANY includes a statewide Programs and Services Directory (called “Find Info and Services”) that is searchable by county, organization, keyword or target group.  This directory is updated and maintained by health and human service providers composed of the Community Action network and their local partners across New York.

Volunteer Center
In addition to its Programs and Services Directory, CANY features a volunteer center that allows individuals to efficiently search or register for volunteer opportunities.  Here’s how it works: organizations post volunteer opportunities; volunteers can search these opportunity postings and subsequently contact their local agency to help others.

Community Calendar
Want to advertise your community organization’s event?  Or maybe you are looking for events you can participate in within your local area?  CANY’s community calendar allows you to do both.   Registered CANY organization users can post events that can be searched by anyone with internet access.   Reoccuring events can be posted for multiple dates.  Events can be searched for by many categories and date ranges.

Yellow Pages
Searching for basic contact information for a local organization is now easier than ever.  Check out CANY’s Electronic Yellow Pages.  Use the Yellow Pages section to quickly find contact info for all of the entities registered in CANY.  You can search by keyword, county, zip code, city/town or name.  (Non-profits may submit listings now; listings for businesses are in development).

Summary
Community Assets NY links citizens with groups, resources, and information that support individual growth, economic and social development, and greater civic participation.  CANY gives organizations’ assets greater visibility and puts resources in the hands of New Yorks; it fills information and referral service gaps across New York while creating a unified social services directory available to everyone.  Health and human services providers who are interested in becoming part of CANY should click here to begin the registration process or Contact Us with any questions.

Progrmas and Services on CANY include listings by
Health care organizations, human service organizations, civic organizations, government organizations, neighborhood associations, faith-based organizations, schools and colleges, business and economic developers.  Asset information on CANY includes basic needs, consumer services, educational resources, health care and many more.  Investigate the system by clicking on the “Find info and services” button on the menu bar.

This network is free to the public and is accessible through any computer linked to the Internet (including those at home, in offices, at public and non-public schools, at colleges and universities, in public libraries, at senior citizen and community centers).
